2 charged in fatal Greene Co. hit and run

KINSTON, N.C. -

North Carolina Highway Patrol made an arrest in a hit and run that killed one man in Green County on Sunday.

Jamal Antwon Johnson, 27, of Stantonburg, is charged in the death of Jimmy Terrell Suggs, 36, of Snow Hill.

Deputies said Johnson was driving on U.S. 258 near Browntown Road in Greene County, when he struck Suggs.       

Suggs was transported to Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston, where he later died. Investigators said Johnson fled the scene in his car.

Johnson faces charges that include felony hit and run and driving with a revoked license. His passenger, Rosa Elena Cerna, 24, is charged with aiding and abetting a felony hit and run.

Suggs and Cerna are both being held in the Greene County Jail under $25,000 bonds.
