Jefferson Energy officials say at least one of its customers has been contacted by a person soliciting an electric payment.
Read the text of a press release we received Tuesday below:
It has been brought to our attention by a Jefferson Energy member that an individual contacted him by phone to solicit an electric payment. The member was advised that if he did not meet at a certain location with the payment amount, his service would be disconnected.
THIS IS A SCAM.
Jefferson Energy Cooperative does not solicit payments of electric bills through the phone or any other means.
Unfortunately these types of scams happen periodically. But we always encourage our members to call us if they have any questions about their bill, due date, or anything else concerning their Jefferson Energy account.
