Auburn to host second public meeting for Downtown Master Plan

Posted: Updated:
AUBURN, Ala. -

Auburn will host its second Downtown Master Plan public meeting to get residents' feedback.

In August over 140 people joined the City of Auburn to offer their input and vision for the Downtown Auburn Master Plan. The first public meeting included the use of visual and written surveys, review of downtown maps, and presentation of various design options for participants to comment on. Citizens offered their main objectives for the plan, including Toomer's Corner redesign, circulation and transportation systems, and pedestrian and bicycle connectivity. The input provided in this first public meeting is providing guidance for the Downtown Master Plan as the process moves forward.

Now the consultant team will present more detailed design options for the areas identified as presenting challenges within downtown. The consultants will seek input on options for downtown parking solutions, proposed streetscape and open space improvements, and ways to encourage development that caters to all sectors of Auburn's population.

This second public meeting will be Thursday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. in the Harris Senior Center.
