Augusta Commission Committee Recommends Shutting Down Bar

Augusta, GA -

An Augusta bar could be shut down.

An Augusta Commission committee is recommending revoking the liquor license for Skittlez on Gordon Highway.

Richmond County Sheriff's Office deputies say they discovered a person underage in the bar last month, while the club was under a year's probation.

The owner says he invited the minor into the club because he was prone to seizures and was afraid he would be hurt staying outside.

"Knowing that you were under probation, and an 18-year-old kid could cost you your license, you invited him in?" we asked owner Timothy Lowery. "I think his life is more important than a license," he answered.

The club was on one year probation because, in June, Commissioners suspended its liquor license for three months after a teenager was in the bar dancing nude with a male stripper.
