Augusta, GA -

A woman working for the city of Augusta is in trouble with the law.

Terrilynn Brown has been charged with two counts of Theft by Deception.

Brown was hired as a secretary from Augusta Staffing to work for a consultant on a construction project. After that project ended, she continued to submit phony time sheets for a year and a half, collecting more than $86,000 before she was caught.

"She was working for a consultant during the construction of the Meserly Plant. When their work wound up, she continued to submit time sheets and they were paid," says Augusta Utilities Department director Tom Weidmeier. "How much money are we taking here," we asked Weidmeier. "It's around $86,000," he answered.

Wiedmeier says the city is working on getting the money back from Augusta Staffing.
