Aiken Department of Public Safety officers will be holding their fourth Coffee with a Cop event on Halloween.
Read the text of the press release we received below:
Officers from Aiken Department of Public Safety and community members met together in July and discussed community issues, built relationships, and drank coffee during the first Coffee with a Cop Event.
Coffee with a Cop is a part of the Aiken Safe Communities initiative, a proactive community approach designed to engage, educate and encourage individuals to make healthy life choices that do not include violence in their community. This approach seeks to improve the overall safety and quality of life in all of the communities throughout Aiken by partnering community resources and law enforcement. The key to any successful partnership is communication. Coffee with a Cop seeks to enhance the communication between community members and the members of Aiken Public Safety.
The Coffee with a Cop event on October 31st, will be the departments' forth event. "Each new event has allowed officers to hear from the members of their community about the things that matter to them", said Corporal Bickel.
All community members are encouraged to attend. The next event begins at 8am on October 31st at Wendy's (1004 Richland Avenue west). The owners of Wendy's, Michael and Lauri Lizzi, are opening their store early Thursday morning just to host a Coffee with a Cop event.
Coffee with a Cop events will continue to be held on a monthly basis at locations throughout the city. Please contact Cpl. J. Bickel with questions or location dates and times: 803-642-7620, email@example.com.
