AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference has named Adam Ward the 2013 Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season, after Ward led his men to a first-place finish at the league championships Saturday afternoon for their third team title of the year.

Voted on by the conference's head coaches before the championship race, the award is the seventh for Ward in his ten-year tenure in Augusta, Ga. In the past, he earned the accolade five times for the women's team and won his first for the men's at the 2011 PBC Championships.

Under Ward and in the first meet of the year, the GRU men placed five runners in the top 15 and four in the top 10 to win the team title at The Remembrance Run on Sept. 7. Six Jags finished in the top 15 at the Jaguar Invitational, highlighted by senior Dustin Ross' first-place finish and senior Jaiden Brandt, the 2013 Runner of the Year's second-place finish. After winning their host meet, the Jags took third out of 28 teams at the Royals Cross Country Challenge in Charlotte, N.C. on Oct. 11 where they finished with three in the leading 25.

Ward was named Coach of the Year, before his team began their run towards the championship title at the Southland Academy Course at this year's PBC Championships.

In 2011, in their first year of reinstatement, Ward took the Jaguars to their first men's PBC Championship and won the team title overall with four runners in the top 10 and Dustin Ross leading the team with a fourth-place finish.

GRU Augusta Cross Country is now preparing for the NCAA Southeast Regional at McAlpine Park, in Charlotte, N.C. on Saturday, Nov. 9.
