ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) - State records show that a York County residential care center where a 61-year-old man was slashed in the face has been cited for 12 serious health violations in the last five months.

Less than two weeks before Garland Edwards required 42 stitches in his face Oct. 13, Catawba Community Care Home was cited for seven violations that may endanger residents.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A state representative from Columbia is sponsoring a town hall meeting on domestic violence. Democratic state Rep. Mia McLeod is holding today's meeting at Ridge View High School.

South Carolina ranks worst in the nation for violence against women.

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - The former commanding officer of the Guantanamo Bay detention camp in Cuba is speaking at Furman University this week. The school says Retired Maj. Gen. Michael R. Lehnert is speaking today in Shaw Hall in the Younts Conference Center.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A Charleston County jail officer is charged with drunken driving. Authorities say 51-year-old Anthony Middleton of Charleston was stopped on Interstate 26 about 3 o'clock yesterday morning by a sheriff's deputy who saw Middleton's vehicle swerving in the traffic lanes.
