AUGUSTA, GA (WJBF) - If the Georgia Regents Jaguars were worried about losing fan support after changing their name from Augusta State in the offseason, then Thursday's Jaguar Madness event put those fears to rest.
Hundreds of fans packed Christenberry Fieldhouse for program's first ever pre-season pep rally.
Players from both the men's and women's teams showcased their skills in competitions like the three point shootout and slam dunk contest.
For the players, it was nice to know that Jaguar Nation is alive and well after an offseason filled with change.
"Fans come out and it's a great way to meet them and show what we're about to do this year," said junior guard D'Angelo Boyce. "Even though we changed the name, we still get love. Everything that happened last year is past us and it's a great feeling."
