Getting a license plate in Augusta could soon mean a lot more driving around.
As we exclusively reported yesterday, the Tax Commissioner's Office is proposing relocating two tag offices.
The South Augusta tag office on Lumpkin Road office and the East Augusta Tag Office on Laney Walker Boulevard
The Lumpkin road office would move south to a shopping center off Rosier Road, The Laney Walker office would move to the Publix Shopping center on Washington Road.
But customers at the Lumpkin Road tag office say they don't want to see that change.
"I love living on this side and when you take away things that are assessable it kind of brings down the economy because you are moving and your driving and people don't want to live where they can't access things that we need so I don't think it's a good idea," says Michelle Anderson who was at the south Augusta Tag Office on Lumpkin Road.
The tax commissioner says relocating the two tag offices is only a proposal and will need to be approved by the Commission.
