YOUNGSVILLE, N.C. -

A Youngsville woman is charged with shooting her husband of more than 30 years in the neck while he sat in his recliner.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office says Wayne Logan, 53, was shot in the neck with a shotgun Tuesday night while he sat in his recliner. He died shortly after the shooting.

Deputies arrested Logan's wife, 54-year-old Charlyn Logan, around midnight and charged her with first degree murder.

Franklin County Sheriff Jerry Jones said the couple had an argument after work that continued late into the evening. Deptuies arrived at the home around 10:22 p.m.

It is believed that alcohol may have been a factor in the shooting.

Wayne Logan's brother told Jones that the couple had recently celebrated his birthday in Virginia, and they appeared to be happy and holding hands.

The Sheriff's Office said it had responded to several calls at the couple's home last year when their 17-year-old daughter lived at the home.

Charlyn Logan is being held in the Franklin County Jail.
