The Carolina Panthers have been awarded wide receiver Tavarres King off waivers from the Denver Broncos, the Panthers confirmed Monday. To make room for King on the active roster, the Panthers released cornerback D.J. Moore.
King, 6-1 and 190 pounds, was a fifth-round selection (161st overall) of the Broncos in the 2013 NFL Draft. He began the season on Denver's practice squad before being promoted to the active roster on Oct. 15. He was waived by Denver on Oct. 19.
A product of the University of Georgia, King played in a school-record 56 career games and finished his career with the Bulldogs ranked third all-time in receiving touchdowns (21) and fourth in receiving yards (2,602).
