1,000 wanted at Breast Cancer Awareness walk in Americus

AMERICUS, Ga. -

Organizers of the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center's 10th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk are hoping to draw 1,000 people when the walk takes place on Saturday, October 19th in downtown Americus. 

Registration is at 8 am and the walk begins at 9 am. 

The keynote speaker for the event will be Kristin T. Collier, MD (General Surgeon), a member of Phoebe Sumter Surgical Associates. The special guest will be TV & Radio Personality Ebony Steele, known for her role on the Rickey Smiley Morning Radio Show and she is also a breast cancer survivor.

The walk will have 3 routes, and they will all begin and end at Lenny's Farmer Market, which is located at 110 N Hampton Street (behind the 1800 Mexican Restaurant). 

 The routes: 

Route 1 (LONGEST) – Approximately 3 miles

 

*Begin at Lenny's Market (110 N Hampton Street) and then make a left onto Lamar Street

 *Follow Lamar Street through town and make a left onto Hudson Street

 *Follow Hudson and make a left onto Forsyth Street

 *Follow Forsyth Street through town all the way back to Lenny's Market on Hampton Street

 

 Route 2 (INTERMEDIATE) – Approximately 2 miles

 *Begin at Lenny's Market and then make a left onto Lamar Street

 *Follow Lamar Street through town and make a left onto Mayo Street

 *Follow Mayo and make a left onto Forsyth Street

 *Follow Forsyth Street through town all the way back to Lenny's Market on Hampton Street

 

 Route 3 (SHORTEST) – Approximately 1 mile

 *Begin at Lenny's Market and then make a left onto Lamar Street

 *Follow Lamar Street through town and make a left onto Prince Street

 *Follow Prince Street and make a left onto Forsyth Street

 *Follow Forsyth Street through town all the way back to Lenny's Market on Hampton Street
