It's the 21 year for It's Spooky To Be Hungry. Below is information on this year's campaign, collection dates and collection sites:
It's Spooky To Be Hungry is a volunteer driven, award-winning, neighbor-to-neighbor food drive dedicated to fighting hunger while helping to strengthen our community. Last year more than 1600 volunteers participated from over 400 local neighborhoods, schools, businesses, faith communities, and civic organizations over an eight-county area of the CSRA. In 2012, we collected more than 135,620 pounds of food and $60,477, enabling us to provide the equivalent of 293,513 meals to area needy.
Spooky continues to expand this year, with many new neighborhoods and associated collection sites participating across the CSRA throughout October. In addition to our bases in more than 200 neighborhoods, we will have associated Spooky collections sponsored by more than 175 local schools, faith communities, and businesses.
This year, the need for food support is even greater in our region, with economic challenges facing an increasing number of our citizens. We invite anyone who is interested in donating to It's Spooky To Be Hungry to contact us!
The collection date for Columbia County neighborhoods is Saturday, October 19th and for Richmond County neighborhoods is Saturday, October 26th.
We have been grateful for outstanding news coverage of It's Spooky To Be Hungry in years past. We hope you will again join in sharing our positive message with the CSRA. Please contact us to get more information about It's Spooky To Be Hungry!
