Paine College wants a campus road closed down.
School leaders have written commissioners saying despite signs and other safety measures the traffic on Druid Park Avenue has now slowed down.
Last year Paine officials requested the city close the street between Laney Walker Boulevard and Central Avenue for safety reasons.
Students we talked to say traffic does -speed- through the area.
"Sometimes the cars don't want to stop sometimes they do it shouldn't be were we have to press the button every single time to cross the road if they see us there they should be like Ok you stop you are in the middle of a college campus what do you expect of course students will be walking around," said Shagraila Hammond,
"So it can be dangerous?
"Yeah," she said.
Another student Bobby Jones, Jr. said it would be best if the road through campus "was closed".
City traffic engineers say there are plans to make the street safer that include a new roundabout at Druid Park Avenue and Laney Walker and narrowing of Druid Park Avenue through campus.
