Tuskegee and Auburn to host student architecture conference

TUSKEGEE, Ala. -

Tuskegee University and Auburn University have been selected to host the American Institute of Architecture Students' last Fall South Quad Conference.

Tuskegee is the first historically black institution in the nation selected to host this event. The event will be held Thursday through Sunday, Oct. 20 at the Renaissance Hotel in Montgomery.

Themed "Connect," the conference is organized to facilitate learning through positive exchange between the different student chapters across its Southern region (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Puerto Rico).

The conference illustrates the discipline of the architecture profession. Students interact with professionals, participate in seminars and listen to guest speakers and presenters.

The seminars and panel discussions are geared towards career advancement and the topics include: "The Invisible Voice: Celebrating Culture and Women in Architecture," "Positioning Your Career for a Changing Profession," and "Architecture Visualization in Practice."

In addition to the keynote speakers and seminars, the attendees will have the opportunity to participate in interactive tours of Downtown Montgomery, Auburn University, Tuskegee University and the Auburn to Rural Studio.
