Civilian firearms training sessions planned

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

The Muscogee County Marshal's Office is planning Civilian Firearms Training sessions aimed at teaching civilians about gun laws in the state and the proper handling of weapons.

To attend, you must be 21 or older. A background check will be conducted.

Those attending will need to bring their firearm, holster, 200 rounds of ammunition, a baseball cap and weather appropriate clothing for range days. You'll also need eye and ear protection, though the Marshal's Office will have some on hand.

The training sessions will be held on October 23 & 24, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and October 26 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Muscogee County Marshal's Office, in the West Wing of the Government Center, 100 10th Street, 2nd floor on October 23 & 24, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The first session will be held in the classroom, the October 26 session will be held at the range.

The cost for the training is $42, Cashier's Checks or Money Orders.
