Imagine going on a leisurely snorkel. And then seeing this! This rare 18-foot oarfish was spotted just off Catalina Island in Southern California. It's extremely rare to find an oarfish -- dead or alive. That's because it's believed oarfish mostly live in waters more than 3000 feet deep -- leaving them largely unstudied by scientists. The giant oarfish is the longest bony fish species, and can reach lengths of 56 feet.
