WJBF News Channel 6 has learned the Boshears Skyfest that was supposed to take place this weekend has been postponed.
Organizers say the event was postponed because of the government shutdown.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) needs to sign a waiver for the airshow, but because workers are furloughed, the paperwork is still sitting at the FAA office.
The event has been rescheduled for the weekend of April 26th in 2014.
"It is very disappointing. Nobody was happy about this decision. As a matter of fact, quite a few of us were sick in our stomachs about having to make this decision. This is a huge event. Months and months in the planning process of it all," says Becky Shealy, the event's spokesperson.

The 21st Annual Boshears SkyFest scheduled for October 19th and 20th, 2013 has been postponed to April 26th and 27th, 2014. The show has been postponed due to the government shutdown, which includes parts of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
In order to have an air show with aeorbatic performances, an air show waiver is required. At this time, the waiver is still at the FAA Office.
Boshears Sklyfest was advertised as an air show. No waiver means no air show. This community deserves the show that has been advertised. To the end, the Executive Committee made the decision to postpone the event until spring of 2014.
All advance tickets purchased will be refunded. Please contact Augusta Aviation at 706-733-8970 for further information on refunds.
