UPDATE ON 6: Suspect In Weekend Murder Arrested

Richmond County sheriff's Office investigators have identified and charged a suspect in connection to a murder that happened on Sunday.

The suspect is identified as 41-year-old Ezra Thyrone Lay, of the 900 block of Carrie Street, in reference to the October 13th Murder of James Marshall.

Lay has been booked into the Richmond County Jail for the charges of Murder, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Investigators say, Lay was taken into custody shortly after this investigation was begun and was initially charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The weapon Lay was initially charged with is not believed to be related to this murder. This investigation is still in its early stages, so investigators say so no further details will be released at this time.

The victim of a weekend murder in Richmond County has been identified as 44-year-old James Marshall of Lincoln County.

One person is dead in an early morning homicide.

Richmond County deputies say they responded to a call on Carrie Street at D'Antignac Street in reference to a homicide around 1 A.M. Sunday morning.

Deputies say they found one male dead when they arrived on scene.
