Cause of death for SC mom could take weeks

The Berkeley County Coroner says it could be weeks before a cause of death is released for the woman who was killed in her Sangaree house.

Coroner Bill Salisbury says the forensic toxicologist is waiting to get the results of toxicology tests back before making a determination about how Ashley Kaney died.

Salisbury already determined that Kaney's 8-year-old daughter was strangled to death.

 Salisbury says the tests concerning Kaney could take weeks, as some of the tests take time to reveal information.

Due to the fact that this is such a high-profile case, the toxicologists, "They want to be very careful on this one."

Ashley was killed at her home in Sangaree last week. Her 8 year old daughter Raleigh Burdick was also killed in the home. Deputies have charged Jacob Philips, Ashley's former boyfriend, with the murders.

He is currently in jail in Virginia, waiting to be extradited to South Carolina.

The coroner says 8 year old Raleigh was strangled.
