One Augusta Commissioner says some city residents need to be free of any Storm Water Utility Fee.
Commissioner Wayne Guilfoyle represents deep south Augusta, places like Clark Road, where there are no storm drains, only ditches.
Guilfoyle says houses there do not direct water into the roadway and he believes that residents shouldn't have to pay the same storm water fee as those living near storm drains.
"Either reduced or exempt because, point blank, if you 300 feet off the road, your water never touches anything around there and if your land falls one way or the other opposite of the road, how are we going to charge people?" says Guilfoyle.
Commissioners will vote next week on spending $480,000 for a team of consultants to begin the process of implementing the Storm Water Utility Fee.
