The boy with the gift to inspire others -- doing it again. You may remember 8-year old Jack Hoffman. The young Nebraska football fan -- his battle with brain cancer.
He lifted spirits when the team let him sprint down the field to score a touchdown. And an even bigger victory. Abc's Josh Elliot tells us the big news.
It might just be the most memorable run in recent Nebraska football history
7-year-old, Jack Hoffman going off tackle -- 69 yards for the score lifted by his heroes into the air and into a nation's collective heart.
A lifelong cornhuskers fan, jack was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 5. But last April, he got a chance to lead his beloved cornhuskers onto the field.
But the surprise came late in the 2nd half, when the team called that special play just for jack.
"It felt like being a real husker super-duper awesome.
"When he ran onto the field finally let myself for about the first time I let myself enjoy it.
And today, the best news yet - after 60 grueling weeks of chemotherapy, Jack 's cancer is now in remission.
I'm really happy.
And so are his parents
As jack's father, I'm so incredibly proud of him. He's been so brave along the way
Further proof of young jack's rare courage and iron will that make him a giant amongst us all.
