This is National Fire Prevention Week.
Throughout the week, fire and emergency crews around the country remind people about what they can do to prevent a blaze.
Two of every five home fires start in the kitchen. That's more than any other place in the home.
Here's some tips on helping cut down your family's risk of starting a kitchen fire.
Stay in the room when you're frying, grilling, broiling or boiling food.
Turn the stove off if you do have to leave.
Use back burners whenever possible and keep kids away from the stove.
Also, be sure to keep things such as pot holders, towels and wooden utensils away from the burners.
