Rabid Raccoon Identified In Richmond County

Richmond County Health Department officials tell WJBF News Channel 6, a rabid raccoon has been identified in the Apple Valley subdivision area of Augusta.

Officials warn, all dogs and cats in this area should have an up to date vaccination given by a registered veterinarian.

Residents are warned to avoid wild animals and are advised to report and contact between wild animals and humans to the Richmond County Health Department at 706-667-4234.

To report any contact between cats and wild animals, residents are asked to contact Richmond County Animal Control at 706-790-6836.
