Leaders statewide are celebrating Georgia Pre-K Week, including right here in Augusta.
Senator Hardie Davis read to Pre-K students at Hains Elementary Wednesday.
He says this is an effort to highlight the importance of early education for the state's thousands of Pre-K students.
"The first 5 years of when a child's living, 90 percent of the brain is formed during that time, Senator Davis says. "So, we need to take every opportunity we can, in the state of Georgia, to create pathways for children to learn at an early age and thereby create a path for success long term."
Georgia Pre-K week runs from September 30th to October 4th.
