Augusta, GA -

Two men are behind bars charged with bank robbery.

North Augusta deputies say the Regions Bank was robbed Tuesday afternoon.

They say a black male gave the teller a note stating he had a gun and wanted all the money in the drawer.

Bank employees say he got into a silver Dodge Nitro and headed north on West Avenue.

Officers saw a car matching that description, downtown in North Augusta and tried to stop it, the driver took off across the 13th Street Bridge and into Augusta.

The Silver Dodge Nitro then crossed the 5th Street bridge heading back into South Carolina down Highway 421.

The chase ended and the driver surrendered at the intersection of St. John's Road and Legion Road in Warrenville.

Inside the car 22-year old George D. Oakman III from Warrenville and 26-year old bank robber, David L. Cassell from Aiken, both men were arrested.

During the chase, officers say the money was thrown out the speeding car. No one in the bank was injured during the robbery.
