UPDATED ON 6: Person Who Died In Tuesday Riverwatch Parkway Crash Identified

The person who died in a crash on Riverwatch Parkway has been identified.

Columbia County Coroner Harriet Garrison tells WJBF News Channel 6, 22-year-old Alexander Smith died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, autopsy results show.

Columbia County Coroner Harriet Garrison has informed News Channel 6 that the victim of Tuesday morning's fatal accident on Riverwatch Parkway is a 22-year-old, white male from Evans. At this time his name is not being released until all family has been notified.

The victim will be sent to Atlanta Wednesday morning for an autopsy. Deputies are still investigating the cause of the accident.

According to a witness at the scene,  the driver of the vehicle was "driving all over the road". At one point the vehicle left the road and then came back on before eventually hitting the guardrail.

The coroner has left the scene, but the name of the driver has not been released.

We are awaiting an official statement from the Richmond County Sheriff's Office of the Richmond County Coroner's Office.
