Franklin Co. teen killed in fiery crash

LOUISBURG, N.C. -

A Franklin County teen was killed Monday after crashing his vehicle.

The sheriff's office said Thomas Cody Klingensmith was killed after his vehicle ran off the road and crashed.

Authorities said Klingensmith was reported missing around 6:20 a.m. Monday although authorities believe he left home in the middle of the night. His father went to the family farm to look for his son, but he was there.

Klingensmith's father discovered his son's burnt up car on the side of the road. Authorities arrived to the scene shortly before 8 a.m. Monday. The teen's remains were still inside the care.

Authorities said no witnesses saw or heard the crash or saw the car burning after the crash.

Klingenmsith was a student a Louisburg High School, but authorities do not believe he was head to school when his vehicle crashed.
