Today was the final day of competition for the annual IRONMAN 70.3 in downtown Augusta.
Thousands of competitors lined up eagerly waiting for their wave to be called to the starting line.
Guys and girls of all ages hit the water first and began swimming down the Savannah River.
Friends and family members watched and cheered the racers on from the Riverfront Marina.
Leo Rodriguez from Miami, FL says, "Awesome race, awesome swim, bike and run. It's the best race ever!"
Arthur Dupre from New Orleans, LA says, "You have the opportunity to come out here and compete with people that love to stay in shape, that love to be motivated, to challenge themself. That's to me that's what the triathlon world and IRONMAN's all about."
The 70.3 mile triathlon began with a 1. 2 mile swim right under the 6th street bridge in the Savannah River.
