The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is currently searching for a bank robbery suspect.
Friday afternoon, just after 4:00 p.m., deputies responded to the Augusta Metro Federal Credit Union branch located at 4306 Mike Padgett Highway concerning a reported bank robbery.
When deputies arrived, they learned that an unknown black male entered the bank brandishing an unknown type handgun and demanded cash. The suspect collected an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene.
The suspect is described as a black male, 6' tall, with a slender build, wearing navy blue scrub pants and a multi-colored top. The suspect fled in a blue Dodge Pick-up truck and was seen traveling south on Mike Padgett Highway.
Anyone with information leading to identification of the armed suspect is asked to notify the Richmond County Sheriff's Office at 706-821-1080 or the Criminal Investigative Division at 706-821-1020.
