Hundreds More SRS Employees To Be Out Of A Job Tuesday

Posted: Updated:
Aiken County, SC -

Come Tuesday, 500 people from the MOX project at the Savannah River Site (SRS) will be out of a job.

Savannah River Remediation, which handles liquid waste at the Savannah River Site, announced an involuntary separation program weeks ago. At that time, 500 other people were laid off.

Next Tuesday will be another round of job losses.

Company officials say the cuts stem from federal budget cuts. This year's budget for the project was $440 million. The budget for the next fiscal year, which starts October 1st, was cut to $380 million.
