California is raising its minimum wage to one of the highest rates in the nation.
Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill Wednesday that will gradually hike the state minimum wage over the next 3 years to $10/hour, one of the highest in the country. Federal law sets a minimum wage of $7.25 per hour.
California is among 19 states and the District of Columbia with laws that set a higher state minimum wage.
