"Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D." picks up where the 2012 blockbuster film "The Avengers" left off...
"Now, we're in a world where a lot of the things S.H.I.E.L.D. has been keeping secret from the population...they're a bit out of the bag," says Clark Gregg, who portrays Agent Phil Coulson.
While you likely won't see Robert Downey, Jr. in his Iron Man costume...this new ABC TV series does bring Agent Phil Coulson back to life as he leads his team of agents investigating strange events where people openly use their super powers.
"There's stakes, there's peril, there's a lot of deep emotion and drama, but it is an adventure story," says the show's creator and executive producer, Joss Whedon.
Whedon wrote and directed "The Avengers", which is the third highest grossing film of all time. He's also behind the hit TV series "Buffy The Vampire Slayer", "Angel", and has even been working on the next "Avengers" film...leading up to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s TV premiere.
"I have to pinch myself every day on set. I can't believe I'm here..." says Brett Dalton, who portrays Agent Grant Ward.
Behind the scenes, most of the stars say they read comic books growing up...and now... they get to live the fantasy.
"All the things I only dream about being...so it's FABULOUS!!!" says Ming-Na Wen, who portrays Agent Melinda May.
You can watch the season premiere of "Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D" Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m. on WJBF News Channel 6.
