Aiken parents, listen up: Aiken Public Schools are making a push for students to get their TDAP shot; that's for tetanus, diphtheria, and whooping cough.
That vaccine is required for students by 7th grade. If students do not get the vaccine on schedule, they can't go to class. School officers say that requirement by DHEC hits home.
"We've seen an increase in the number of students, with cases actually in Aiken County with whooping cough, that's part of why DHEC is requiring this new immunization," Dr. Cecelia Hewett says.
If your child still needs the Tdap vaccination, you can make an appointment today. To make a an appointment, call 1-800-403-4047. Vaccinations will be from 1 until 6:30 this Thursday at the Aiken Health Department. Walk ins will be accepted.
