PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – North Dakota State remained at number one in this week's Sports Network poll with 157 of 158 first-place votes and Eastern Washington, with the other first-place vote, stayed in the number-two slot. Towson and Sam Houston State each moved up to third and fourth, respectively. Some shuffling among the top-15 places moved James Madison ahead of the Georgia Southern into the 14th spot in the September 23rd edition of the rankings, putting the Eagles at 15th.
In its first year transitioning to FBS, the Eagles are being considered for weekly rankings and honors from the Sports Network, but are not eligible to be ranked in the weekly national coaches poll.
Georgia Southern had an open week last week and closes out the month of September with Chattanooga at Paulson Stadium on Saturday, September 28th.
