Mother Wants Club Pure Platinum Closed

Augusta, GA -

Augusta Commissioners are looking to take action against an Augusta night spot, but does the punishment go far enough?

A commission committee voted to put Club Pure Platinum, on Gordon Highway, on six months probation for 14 incidents of selling alcohol after hours.

But, the club has had other problems, there was a shooting last month and in March, 28-year-old Phillip Boynton was killed after a fight outside the club.

His mother says six month probation isn't strong enough punishment.

"No, it's not, no it's not. Ain't no six months probation, I want it go be closed down, so I'm going to stay working at it for it to be closed down because something else is going to happen at that same club in six months. Watch what I tell you," said Mary Fallen.

Under the probation, Club Pure Platinum would be required to stop being a restaurant and follow the same operating hours as a bar.

The full Commission will have the final say on the club next week.
