A portion of Whiskey Road, in Aiken, will be closed Tuesday as two power poles are replaced.
The Aiken Department of Public Safety tells us, SCE&G crews will replace 2 power poles Tuesday morning on Whiskey Road near Easy Street. The work will result in the closing of Whiskey Road between Grace Avenue and South Boundary to all traffic.
At 8:00 a.m., all northbound traffic will be detoured onto Grace Avenue then onto York Street. Southbound traffic will be detoured onto Chesterfield Street then onto Easy Street, then back onto Whiskey Road.
Officials say there is no timeframe to complete this job and motorists are asked to avoid this area if possible as traffic will be slow and heavy.
Alternate routes to avoid this work zone are Powderhouse Road, Banks Mill Road, and utilizing the Highway 118 bypass/Hitchcock Parkway south.
