WNCN special focuses on impact of Obamacare

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. -

It's one of the most controversial pieces of legislation in years, fundamentally changing health care in the United States and raising a multitude of questions for all generations of Americans.

A key provision goes into effect Oct. 1 as part of the Affordable Care Act, the massive legislation commonly known as Obamacare.

The law was signed by Obama in March 2010. The new online marketplace is set to open Tuesday, leaving Americans scrambling to fully understand the complex legislation.

Will it affect you? Absolutely. And you're going to have decisions of your own to make. WNCN and a team of experts will walk you through how to make the best choices.

WNCN held a special one-hour show to help you navigate the ACA and the video from that is attached.

Affordable Care Act: What you need to know

The special covered:

  • How the health insurance exchanges will work
  • How the ACA will impact your insurance premiums, regardless of your insurance situation
  • How the ACA will impact the cost of medical care
  • How the ACA will impact your access to medical care
  • The impact of the ACA on local businesses

The special was hosted by Penn Holderness and Pam Saulsby and presented by the Burning Coal Theatre. The theatre is located at the Murphey School in downtown Raleigh.
