Thomson, GA (WJBF) - The Thomson Bulldogs football team will be without four players this week following the fight in last week's game against LaGrange.
Thomson head coach Milan Turner confirmed that Felton Hatcher, Jalen McNair, KT Woods and Quay Commings have all been suspended by the GHSA for 1 game for their involvement in the brawl last Friday night.
Hatcher, McNair, Woods and Tripp Jones were all ejected from the game (along with 2 players from LaGrange). But according to Turner, after review, Jones did not receive a suspension, and instead Quay Commings was suspended.
Coach Turner says there will be
disciplinary action on their part as well, but he wouldn't go into the details.
As far as the suspensions go, according to the GHSA, it's pretty cut and dried. Any player who was suspended the night of the game for fighting will have to sit out the next game. There were four such suspensions from the Thomson team and two from LaGrange, so those six players will miss the next game.
The large fight broke out in the third quarter. It appeared to start after a LaGrange player shoved one of the Thomson players to the ground.
Thomson won the game 31-28 for their first win of the year.
