The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating the discovery of a body on Northern end of Hilton Head.

On Saturday night, Sheriff's deputies say they responded to the Jarvis Creek Land Preserve located off of Spanish Wells Road in reference to a body found on the shore of the marsh.

A nearby resident contacted the Sheriff's Office after three fishermen in the area reported seeing remains of a human body washed ashore.

The male body was recovered and transported to MUSC for autopsy.

No word on the identification of the victim, and the cause of death is under investigation.

The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information to contact Investigator Cpl. B. Cooler at 843-255-3423.
