Posted: Updated:

GREENVILLE, S.C. (GRU-Augusta Sports Information) -- GRU Augusta posted a final round of 9-over 297 Sunday and took third place in the 42nd Lady Paladin Invitational at Furman University Golf Course.

Playing their fifth competitive round in seven days, the Jaguars were paced by freshman Eunice Yi's even-par 72 and solo second-place finish. Senior Casey Kennedy tied for eighth with a 3-over 75 and freshman Josefine Nyqvist tied for 12th after a 76. Fellow freshman Jessica Haigwood tied for 36th following a 76 and senior Christine Duschek-Hansen was 64th after a 74. Jags' junior Shannon Pak, playing as an individual, tied for 72nd with an 80.

With their finish, the Jags recorded their second straight top-five finish to open the 2013-14 season. They finished tied for fourth in their season-opening event at the Minnesota Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

Wisconsin put together a tremendous final round with a 7-under 281 to claim a two-shot victory over runnerup Clemson. East Carolina was fourth, while tourney host Furman and Florida State tied for fifth. Clemson freshman Ashlan Ramsey registered a 2-under 70 and, with a 54-hole total of 7-under 209, garnered her first collegiate victory by three shots over GRU Augusta's Yi. Sloan Shanahan (Clemson) and Kris Yoo (Wisconsin) tied for third, while the Badgers' Brooke Ferrell was fifth.

The Jags began the final round with a five-shot advantage over the Tigers and led by as many as 10 shots after combining for a 1-under total on the front nine. The Badgers stormed back, shooting eight-under on their second nine holes to rally past both the Jags and Clemson.

The Lady Paladin Invite, which began in 1972, featured a 16-team field that included the host Paladins, along with Clemson, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Florida State, GRU Augusta, Georgia State, Houston, Kennesaw State, Nova Southeastern, Samford, Southern Miss, Texas A&M, UNC Wilmington, UNC Greensboro, Wisconsin, and Wofford. Prominent winners include Betsy King, Nancy Lopez, Sherri Turner, Donna Andrews and Dottie Pepper.

With a 3-under 573, the Jags (285-288) established a new school record Saturday for the lowest 36-hole total in the program's 13-year history. The previous mark of 3-over 579 was set two seasons ago in Kory Thompson's first year as head coach.
