TARPON SPRINGS, FL (WFLA) -

Clearwater Police have arrested a 32-year-old man in the shootings of two homeless men in Tarpon Springs last month.

Tarpon Springs Police and Clearwater Police held a joint news conference this afternoon to announce the arrest of Myron Farley. He was being charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder.

Farley was taken into custody by Clearwater Police about 9:20 a.m. Friday during a traffic stop at U.S. 19 and State Road 590.

Farley had been developed as a suspect by Tarpon Springs police in the shootings of Brian Kennedy and Larry Schuff that occurred on Aug. 5. Kennedy was killed; Schuff remains hospitalized in serious condition, accroding to officials.

The two agencies began working together on Sept. 16 when Clearwater Police were called to 1840 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd. where the body of a homeless man, John Austin Lloyd, was found. Detectives on scene along with forensics workers from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office noticed similarities to the Tarpon Springs case.

A collaborative effort between several agencies was instrumental in effecting the arrest of Farley. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, the Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney's Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement joined the Clearwater and Tarpon Springs police departments in the investigation.

Clearwater detectives will continue to investigate Farley as a person of interest in the Lloyd case.

Farley was taken to the Pinellas County Jail this afternoon, according to the report.
