GARNER, N.C. -

A Wake County armed robbery resulted in a brief chase and ended in a crash in Garner Friday morning.

Police received a "be on the look out" call for a silver Buick shortly before 11 a.m. Friday. State troopers spotted the vehicle and attempted to stop it but the driver of the Buick refused.

The Buick crashed into another vehicle when the driver tried to turn into the Heather Springs subdivision in Garner at the intersection of Thompson Road and Timber Drive.

The driver of the Buick, James Elias, jumped out of the vehicle and was eventually apprehended by authorities and charged with felony speeding to elude law enforcement, driving with revoked license, driving while impaired, driving 65 mph in a 45 mph speed zone and resisted and striking a law enforcement personnel.

Authorities say a passenger, Matthew Bagley, was also in the Buick at the time of the crash.

No other details about the robbery have been released at this time.
