The Morris Museum of Art and Symphony Orchestra Augusta (SOA) are partnering with the Miller Theater to offer a smartphone photo contest which documents the Historic Miller Theater.
The Miller, located at 708 Broad Street in downtown Augusta, will be open to the public for tours and photographs during the 2013 Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival on Saturday, September 21st from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on Sunday, September 22th, from noon to 4:00 p.m.
"This is a great partnership, and we anticipate its producing wonderful images, said Mieko Di Sano, executive director of Symphony Orchestra Augusta.
"With our friends at the Morris Museum of Art, we can offer something really wonderful to the Augusta community."
According to the Morris Museum's assistant curator of education, Matt Porter, "This new initiative is consistent with our efforts at the museum to bring art to the community and to involve as many people in the creation of art as we can."
To submit a smartphone photograph for the contest, email entry (one entry per person) to firstname.lastname@example.org by September 24th. All submitted photographs will be on display in the exhibition Snapshots of Time: Images of the Historic Miller Theater, in the first-floor education Gallery at the Morris Museum of Art, October 1st throught October 20th. During the exhibition opening reception on October 10th, 5:30–7:00 p.m., the public is invited to view the photo entries and vote for their favorites images. The winning photos will be announced on the Miller Theater's Facebook page and Twitter.
