1,000 days of gas at or above $3

Posted: Updated:

Tuesday marks one thousand consecutive days that the average price of gas will cost more than three dollars a gallon.

That statistic comes from Triple-A, reported in USA Today.

The motor club says this streak started on December 23rd, 2010 and they estimate that unless there's another recession, high gas prices may be here to stay.

The three dollar threshold started after hurricane Katrina slammed into the gulf, destroying oil rigs.

On the bright side, while the average price hasn't dipped below three dollars, it also hasn't averaged above four dollars.
