EXCLUSIVE ON 6: Deputy Chief Fired in Waynesboro

Posted: Updated:
Waynesboro, GA -

The deputy police chief in Waynesboro is off the job, according to city leaders.

The police chief, Augustus Palmer III, says Deputy Chief Roosevelt Lodge was terminated Friday night.

Palmer would not comment on specifics since it is an on going personnel matter.

We've also put in a call to the city manager, Jerry Coalson, about the specifics of the firing.

Palmer the III took on the post as police chief earlier this year, and replaced Alfonzo Williams.

Just this week -- some city council members tried to overthrow the new police chief.

We're still digging up more answers and will have the latest information to once we get an update.
