A Raleigh nonprofit helped people down on their luck get back on their livelihoods back on Tuesday.
Wheels 4 Hope donated more than a dozen cars to families in need. Several hundred people went to Moore Square in downtown Raleigh to celebrate the 13 families who received cars.
The cars aren't free, but with the help of Wheels 4 Hope and its partner organizations, the families saved and budgeted for the $500 cost of the cars.
Monique Smith said it felt great to get a car.
"Hopefully, it's showing my children something," she said. "Yea, work hard and you get what you need."
