On Tuesday, September 17th CSX Railroad will be continuing repairs of the rail system that runs through Grovetown, which will cause some road closures.
The schedule closings are as follows:
Tuesday, September 17th and Wednesday, September 18th:
Robinson Avenue (Highway 223) will be closed at the railroad crossing. On this day, all traffic that needs to cross is encouraged to use alternate routes through Grovetown (Jimmy Dyess Parkway, or Highway 221). The Katherine Street crossing will be open on this day, but it is a "No Truck" route.
Thursday, September 19th and Friday, September 20th:
On this day, both Robinson Avenue (Highway 223) and Katherine Street will be closed to all thru traffic. The road can accommodate local traffic, but the railroad crossing will be closed. All thru traffic must use alternate route to bypass Grovetown. Suggestions are Jimmy Dyess Parkway, Gordon Highway, and Wrightsboro Road to Highway 221. Officials say Parham Road to Newmantown Road is a good option for cars. Parham Road has a bridge that crosses over the tracks.
CSX representatives state that it is possible that the crossing may be completed earlier, and they can open for traffic earlier than expected.
