Augusta's annual Paddlefest race is now set for this weekend. The race, which was originally scheduled for August, had to be rescheduled due to flooding on the Savannah River. It will now be held Saturday, September 14th.
Paddlefest, which is in its 7th year, is the area's only kayak, canoe, stand-up paddle-board, and homemade raft race.
"It definitely added some more excitement and added a lot more exposure to Paddlefest, having to move the date. The river is great now, the flow has really gone back down to the normal flow that you would see this time of year and the levels also of the river are back," said Marci Cannon, Paddlefest's organizer.
Kayak and canoe races start at 9:00 a.m. from the Savannah Rapids Pavilion. For all of the information on how to sign up, and how much it will cost, visit www.PaddlefestGA.com.
